Do I Need to Pay for Tooling and Mold Costs for Custom Parts?
Tooling and mold costs for custom parts depend on the process. Deep drawing and forming usually need dedicated dies. Laser cutting and CNC need little tooling beyond programming. We quote tooling separately and transparently. You can negotiate die ownership or amortization. Many customers spread the die cost across the first production run.
Before any tooling, our engineers run a free design-for-manufacturing review of your drawing. We will say if you can simplify or avoid the die without changing function. Send your drawing to maggie@weizhimetal.com. The free review tells you exactly what tooling your part requires.
